NHS Lanarkshire has reached the significant milestone of administering one million doses of the covid-19 vaccine.

This figure includes first and second doses as well as boosters and third doses for people who are immunosuppressed.

Tom Elrick, General Manager for the covid-19 vaccination programme in Lanarkshire, said: “Reaching a million doses is an incredible achievement and would not have been possible without the continued dedication and hard work of our NHS and council colleagues. I would also like to say thank you to our local communities for continuing to attend their vaccination appointments to help protect themselves and their friends and families.

“The roll-out of the covid-19 vaccine has been the largest every vaccination programme delivered by NHS Lanarkshire. While it hasn’t been without its challenges, our staff continue to work tirelessly to make sure clinics run as smoothly as possible.”

Due to the increased demand for vaccinations, we have more than doubled-our capacity for drop-in clinics. This week’s drop-in clinics will take place on:

  • Saturday 23 October from 8.15am to 4pm
    • Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell
    • Banqueting Hall, South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters, Hamilton
  • Sunday 24 October from 8.15am to 4pm
    • Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell
    • Banqueting Hall, South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters, Hamilton

These clinics have limited spaces and will run on a first-come first-served basis. As with all drop-in clinics they may be busy and people should expect a significant wait. Drop-in clinics are for first and second doses only. They cannot be used for third doses, boosters or the flu vaccination.

Clinics will have two queues to separate drop-ins and people with appointments.

We have also now started on the booster and flu vaccination programmes, which will see even more people attending our clinics. Here’s a few things to remember, which will also help to keep clinics running smoothly:

  • Bring your appointment letter with you.
  • Arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. If you arrive too early, you may be asked to leave and return.
  • Attend on your own, if you can.
