NHS Lanarkshire has reached the significant milestone of administering 750,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This means that 85 per cent of the local adult population (18 and over) have received one dose and 60 per cent have received both doses.

Dr Mark Russell, Lead for the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Lanarkshire, said:

“Reaching three quarters of a million doses is an incredible achievement and would not have been possible without the continued dedication and hard work of our NHS and council colleagues. I would also like to say thank you to our local communities for continuing to attend their vaccination appointments.

“We are on track to offer first doses to everyone in Lanarkshire age 18 or over, by the start of July. Appointments for all 18 to 29 year olds who registered online have been issued and we have started to send appointments to the remainder of this group.

“We are currently working on plans for the coming months, which will include a focus on local centres and drop-in clinics to help reach people who have missed their first dose or who need to reschedule their second dose.

“Attending your vaccination appointment is now more important than ever and receiving both doses gives you the maximum protection possible.”
